Information for Parents/carers-

Broadstones School has a whole school focus on attendance, we believe pupils need to be in school to access learning opportunities, develop strong social skills and to take advantage of the range of choices available to them here at Broadstones.

Pupils attendance is monitored daily and certificates awarded to pupils with 100% attendance each week.

We regularly inform parents/carers of their child’s attendance through termly pupil reports. This same information is made available to potential further education institutions and employers.

We undertake meetings in school or home visits with parents/carers when a pupil’s attendance becomes a concern. This is to see how we, as a school, can support pupils and their families to overcome any barriers they may have to help them improve their attendance.

If we are not notified you will be contacted to verify your child’s absence, failure to do so will result in an unauthorised absence.

Medical Appointments

Medical appointments should be made outside of school hours or during school holidays wherever possible. Evidence of medical appointments taken in school hours will need to be provided.

Parents/carers are expected to book holidays outside of term time. Absence for holidays taken during term time will NOT be authorised unless the Headteacher considers there to be exceptional circumstances.
