In the Bicycle Workshop we train pupils to gain an inhouse Level 1 and Level 2 Bicycle Maintenance Skills Certificate, the course includes:-
- Safety checks and service assessments
- Wheel truing
- Fixing wheel bearings
- Bleeding hydraulic brakes
- Adjusting and repairing brake cables
- Repairing gears and chains
- Building and adapting bikes
- Bicycle Sales
In short, everything to do with bicycle maintenance and teamwork. We work alongside a local bike shop called “Nevermind The Bike Shop’‘ and work with our tutors to bring some real expertise and Industry knowledge to the class. We have a fully stocked workshop with all the parts and equipment that you would find in any reputable cycle shop. The bikes we refurbish are made available at discounted rates to staff, pupils and vulnerable members of the local community. The course teaches our learners with commercial examples about the impact their work can have on their own lives and on the lives of others.
